The Report Builder is used both for ad-hoc survey report generation and for creating automated report templates for tracking surveys, and can reduce the time to create reports by up to 90 percent. The ‘Report Builder’ works by specifying which variables should be used in tables and charts on the used slides. From this simple input, OfficeReports will automatically generate the needed tables and populate the tables and charts in PowerPoint using the results. The result is a finished report, which can be updated with new data from e.g. the next wave.
In order to be able to generate the needed slides, we first need a 'Slide Library' containing the different 'type' of slides a report might consist of. These slides can contain as many tables, charts and shapes as you wish, but there are a few rules and best practices you want to follow. Read more in our manual on how the prepare this 'Slide Library'.
You probably already have an existing presentation from either the last wave or from the designer. To automate this 'template', we are going to create the necessary cross-tabs in Excel and use them to populate the existing slides in the presentation. The 'Report Builder' will be able to handle this as well. Please read the manual to find out how to do this.
